Hey Flowductive family! Staying productive during the summer can be difficult, as, for many, there are distractions and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Fear not! We can help you stay on track. Here are our top tips on how to make the most of your summer and stay productive.
1) Keep a routine: Just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean you have to throw all routines out the window. In fact, keeping some semblance of a routine will help you stay focused and on track. Wake up at the same time each day, create a daily to-do list, and stick to a bedtime – even on weekends.
2) Get outside: With warmer weather and longer days, summer is the perfect time to get outside and get some fresh air. Take advantage of this by spending time outdoors every day, whether it’s going for a walk or just sitting in the sun for a few minutes. Not only will you get some vitamin D, but you’ll also clear your head and boost your energy levels.
3) Stay hydrated: It’s important to stay hydrated all year round, but especially in summer when we sweat more. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day – aim for eight glasses – and carry a water bottle with you when you’re out and about. Add some fruit or herbs to infuse your water for an extra boost of flavor (and nutrition).
4) Eat healthily: Along with staying hydrated, eating healthy is key to keeping your energy levels up during summer. Fill up on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein; and limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive caffeine. Summer is also a great time to take advantage of seasonal produce – check out your local farmer’s market for inspiration.
5) Exercise: Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but also for your mental health. Taking some time each day – even if it’s just 15-30 minutes – to move your body will help improve your mood, increase energy levels, and reduce stress, anxiety, & depression. Choose an activity that you enjoy so it doesn’t feel like a chore; things like hiking, biking, swimming, & yoga are great options. And if you can exercise outdoors, even better!
6) Limit screen time: We know it can be tempting to spend hours scrolling through social media or watching TV when you have some free time, but too much screen time can actually lead to feelings of anxiety & depression. If you find yourself spending too much time glued to screens, make a conscious effort to limit yourself & take breaks throughout the day. Spend some time offline doing other activities such as reading, journaling, or spending time with friends & family.
7) Make Time for Fun: Summertime is meant for relaxation & fun! So make sure to schedule some down-time throughout the week; do things that make YOU happy whether that means taking naps in the hammock, picnicking in the park, going on nature walks …whatever brings joy into YOUR life! Letting yourself enjoy summer will help reduce stress levels overall which in turn makes being productive that much easier! Summer is also a great opportunity to try new things so don’t be afraid to experiment!
